It is now a really great place to go if someone wants a few moments of quietness from the busy world. It used to have a sad past when it was used to isolate many "untouchable" patients there from the public. Many died there. It's good to see its haunting past is now a history. Thanks for the sharing. Cultural Museum is located in Lai Chi Kok on the Hill, the present site of the buildings once used as a hospital. the local mountain and sea, end of 19th century, with the Customs branch of the Qing government in early 20th century, British construction workers homes, leaving most early buildings. After several repair alteration, this place has been used to set up a quarantine station, prison, the infectious diseases hospital and psychiatric nursing homes. Despite the different roles, different, altogether behind them in common – because of the unique location and building, plays a special role in response to the needs of the community. Now, the complex activation is a landmark cultural platforms, responding to current social and cultural development needs.
饒宗頤文化館的前身是荔枝角醫院，是香港特區政府發展局「活化歷史建築伙伴計劃」的首批活化項目，由香港中華文化促進中心以「香港文化傳承」為主題，展開保育、重新規劃及活化的工作。在發展局及各界友好支持下，這歷史建築群得以活化，改建為文化設施，肩負起傳承中華文化、促進文化交流、貢獻社會的使命。
